ABOUT

I am Vanessa, a researcher at the Centre for Linguistics of the University of Porto and an Invited assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto.​ My research interests are Linguistic Historiography, History of Linguistic Ideas, Language Policies, Discourse Analysis and Teaching Portuguese as a second language.

Regarding my academic background, I obtained my Bachelor's and Teaching Degree in Language Sciences (Portuguese-Literature) from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and I also hold an academic master’s degree in Linguistics from the same institution. In 2015, I moved to Portugal to pursue a Ph.D. in Language Sciences at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, which I finished in 2020. From 2020 to 2021, I completed a postgraduate course in teaching Portuguese as a non-native language at the NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

 

​My professional career has enabled me to develop critical competencies, including organizational skills necessary to manage various projects, a passion for research, and the ability to contribute significantly to my team. Additionally, I consider myself a dedicated and proactive professional, striving daily to successfully achieve all set goals and continually seeking new knowledge to enhance my practice. I approach any entrusted task with ethical rigor, great motivation and perseverance, always seeking to overcome challenges with initiative and creativity.
