ABOUT
I am Vanessa, a researcher at the Centre for Linguistics of the University of Porto and an Invited assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. My research interests are Linguistic Historiography, History of Linguistic Ideas, Language Policies, Discourse Analysis and Teaching Portuguese as a second language.
Regarding my academic background, I obtained my Bachelor's and Teaching Degree in Language Sciences (Portuguese-Literature) from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and I also hold an academic master’s degree in Linguistics from the same institution. In 2015, I moved to Portugal to pursue a Ph.D. in Language Sciences at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, which I finished in 2020. From 2020 to 2021, I completed a postgraduate course in teaching Portuguese as a non-native language at the NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
My professional career has enabled me to develop critical competencies, including organizational skills necessary to manage various projects, a passion for research, and the ability to contribute significantly to my team. Additionally, I consider myself a dedicated and proactive professional, striving daily to successfully achieve all set goals and continually seeking new knowledge to enhance my practice. I approach any entrusted task with ethical rigor, great motivation and perseverance, always seeking to overcome challenges with initiative and creativity.
